"Drive-for-Five" Program: - 2007 and Onward
The Applied Technical Services (ATS) Corporation's
current initiative is the "Drive-for-Five" Program
which aims at capturing a score of "5" on
each of five different measures of customer
service for the annual Circuits Assembly
survey of EMS providers across the US.
While 2005-2006 was focused on significant
growth to increase account portfolio
diversity, supply chain leverage,
manufacturing capabilities, and account
service sophistication, 2007 and onward is all about delivering superior customer service. Each and every ATS employee is well-versed in the
"Drive-for-Five" Program goals and objectives and why such a high customer service level is so important to an EMS provider within its industry class.
Circuits Assembly is a nationally recognized and syndicated expert in the EMS arena. Its annual Service Excellence Survey measures EMS providers on five categories of service, including: on-time delivery (dependability), quality, responsiveness, technology, and value-for-price. ATS scored significantly higher than the averages for large and medium peers in 2006 and it figures to improve on that ranking with continued commitment to the Drive-for-Five Program.
A Successful Growth Initiative -
2005 and 2006
In late 2005, ATS launched a strategic growth initiative by acquiring the electronics manufacturing services division of Three-Five Systems (TFS) located in Redmond, WA. The acquisition increased ATS’s revenues significantly, and expanded its customer portfolio into several additional high-growth industries. The portfolio diversification into the military and aerospace arenas has helped ATS maintain a strong growth pace since the acquisition. Another key acquisition goal was to grow ATS into a powerful player within the local EMS landscape having significant supply chain leverage.
The acquisition’s results within a
year showed that ATS executed this growth initiative extremely well. The company’s organic growth rate
reached a record pace despite the challenges of absorbing new customers and moving to a new and larger facility. The sizable and growing footprint within the local supply chain
now supports an on-going initiative to decrease manufacturing costs for customers. This added leverage is now also extending to a supply chain effectiveness well beyond the region and into a global reach.
The acquisition also expanded ATS’s menu of services and technologies. On the technical front, the company now performs a much more sophisticated level of system integrations, box-build, and testing. On the service front, the customer account teams are now the type of depth found in top-tier EMS providers. As this has all come together
and ATS’s customers are now seeing a whole new level of support and effectiveness from their EMS partner.
While it took some adjustment time, the
successful growth initiative added muscle and sophistication to strengthen ATS’s ability to support its four foundational value proposition elements of responsiveness, adaptability, reliability, and continuous improvement.
