Process Engineer
Summary: The Process Engineer position is focused on the manufacturing process and all aspects regarding the smooth operation of the product builds on the production floor. They strive for lean manufacturing processes and are involved in estimating costs and establishing standards. Responsibilities: - Perform semi-routine and complex activities for the development, implementation and maintenance of manufacturing methods, tools, equipment and processes.
- Determines and develops the method, operations sequence, and tooling for the fabrication of parts, finishing and assembly, components, subassemblies, or final products
- Be a driver for applying lean processes throughout production floor
- Develops assembly guides, procedures, and illustrations
- Estimates manufacturing costs, determines time standards, and makes recommendations for tooling and processing requirements
- Design, development, and implementation of methods, policies, and procedures for processing and manufacturing customer products to industry accepted or customer specified standards and requirements
- Review of supporting manufacturing documentation to ensure it contains necessary criteria and provisions to permit the effective production of the product
- Recommend corrective action for procedural, product, process, or design deficiencies
- Assist with or produce labor quotations for new products or current product revisions
- Support of the Material Review Board (MRB) by evaluating and inspecting materials along with providing disposition and corrective action plans when required
- Work with customers on issues related to their product’s design and quality
- Works with the manufacturing, test, and quality personnel to ensure that effective manufacturing, test, and inspection procedures and processes are implemented and maintained
- Specify the equipment, tools and processes necessary to manufacture products in compliance with customer specified requirements
- Interpret and explain work instructions, specifications, and the use of manufacturing equipment, tools, fixtures, jigs, etc
- Perform root cause analysis and assists with resolving technical problem.
- Confer with technical personnel and supervisors on reported assembly issues and problems
- Define, requisition, obtain, and distribute or install supplies, materials, and equipment to support the direct manufacturing and/or manufacturing support processes
- Develop and implement new and improved manufacturing techniques
- Other duties that may be assigned
Qualifications and Experience: - BA degree in electronics engineering or related field and 3-5 years experience in electronics manufacturing environment OR combination of equivalent education and experience combine
- Strong knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes such as SMT, wave soldering, manual soldering, component insertion and other fields.
- Familiar with design of experiment (DOE)
- Experienced in lean manufacturing, six sigma
- Ability to provide technical guidance to individuals across all levels in the business
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Strong leadership skills, ability to lead projects from start to end
- Must have excellent critical thinking and analysis skills to be able to independently analyze and solve issues.
- Have worked in metric driven environment
- Strong customer service skills
